Summary:
This is a paid dig site. The Diamond Willow Amethyst Mine is one of many that pop up as you head about an hour East of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
They provide buckets and small tools. The mine allowed me to bring my own hammer and chisel, but be sure to check about your tools with them first. When you’re here, try striking rocks along their quartz seams to get clean breaks.
You can get to this area with any vehicle, even though it’s a dirt road to get in.

The Diamond WIllow Mine allows some small tools in. Check with them first!

A lot of the material in the pits is in these flat sheets, which I think could be cool for lapidary projects.

We paid for this boulder separately. It's one of the more brecciated boulders we could find, which tends to produce good crystals based on what I saw here and at another nearby mine.

They sell excellent large pieces near the gift shop. They're reasonably priced but are quite large and hard to move. I helped a guy get one in a truck on my first visit here... make sure you have something to wrap all your finds in!

The Sleeping Giant - a rock formation and a wonderful 13.9 mile hike to get to the top. Possibly the best Autumn view I've ever experienced.
